The challange for society

The challenge is to find the balance between individual freedom and collectivity. The question is if this is a static or dynamic point. Up to now it seems like this point has never been reached and/or that it is very dynamic. Could it be that the countries that nowadays are ranked as the happiest countries have proximate this point?

Savater states that utopia is per definition an totalitarian state, where the "correct" way of living is "enforced". I goes on stating that this has not worked. He advocates not to create utopia but to have ideals and try to materialize these.
