Vorige week heb ik weer deelgenomen aan de zesde aflevering van de National Export Week. Ik was er volgens mij al twee keer eerder bij. Het was van maandag tot en met vrijdag, met uitzondering van de hemelvaart op donderdag. Het was een hybride evenement, deel live en deel via het internet. Maandagochtend heb ik de opening bijgewoond in het auditorium van de Centrale Bank. De opkomst viel echt tegen, maar delen van de inhoud weer goed. De speech van de minister van MEO gaf een goed overzicht van wat allemaal gedaan is en wat nog moet. De medewerkers van de bank gaven een goede uitleg over de betalingsbalans anno 2022.

De volgende ochtend vond ik het allemaal omslachtig om online aan te sluiten. Dat was vrijdag verholpen. Op vrijdag volgde ik het verhaal over import substitutie van landbouwproducten. De bijdrage van de sector moest binnen x aantal jaren verhoogd worden tot 5% van het BBP. Lijkt mij zeer nastrevenswaardig. Daarvoor zal ik een paying solution van lokale makelij. Echt indrukwekkend. Tot slot tekende de minister van MEO samen met Fabien Cousteau een overeenkomst voor het bouwen van zijn onderwater space station.

Het is goed dat er zo’n week is om elkaar te informeren en verhalen te delen. Alleen denk ik dat het compacter moet. Mensen kunnen geen week spenderen aan een dergelijk evenement. Zeker als het geen concrete handvatten levert voor export. Er is concrete informatie nodig over hoe ik betaald wordt vanuit het buitenland en hoe ik kan posten naar het buitenland. En deze informatie was er ook tussendoor.

Maar voor mij het belangrijkste. Voor men kan exporteren moet men een lokale start maken en een -markt opbouwen. In theorie kan een bedrijf rechtstreeks naar een internationale markt, maar de praktijk is dat men lokaal voet aan de grond moet krijgen en de realiteit mis ik.
